do you girls know what these are? asked the sweet old lady. yes, we replied and she asked if we have them growing where we are from. We replied in the negative and she said "these are longons" and proceeded to peel some for our fruit salads.

ripe mangoes. on vacation you can really witness some strange things. A mainland mother and daughter asked the staff what is in the fruit salad. The response was that its a combination of all the fruits in the baskets. The tourists looked at each other panicked, and fled! WHAT did they expect the fruit salad to be composed of?

Bunches of fruit hung prolifically from gardens and even in the wild. Below, tangelos and pomelos

Love all the photos from Hawaii. Brings back memories. The Logan is like a smaller version of a Lychee but with a muskier taste. I think the Lychee is a much superior fruit and one of my favorites. Apple bananas were pretty much a staple in the local markets. Did you like the slightly tart taste? I'm surprised they didn't have the sugar cane already peeled. I've tasted both the black skinned variety and the regular tan yellow ones but couldn't detect any difference in taste or sweetness. Did you see a soursap (guanabana) tree?
