March 2008 Blooms Day

I am looking forward to this month's blooms day as many garden bloggers' gardens "awaken". The highlights of my garden now are the fuchsia bougainvilleas and the flowering agave, the latter is now about 25 feet.

I love all these hot colors
Tons of blooms on the desert rose. I like the lilac crassula/kalonchoe (I don't know) against it. My mother had that plant when I was a child, for years and years, so when I saw it at the garden center I picked it up for sentimental reasons. I am now glad I did as its such easy care, I've since multiplied it, and see lot of landscaping potential.

Hi from south Florida! These are all familiar blooms. I have the Mexican honeysuckle, but never knew what it was called!!! Thanks! I have it popping up in my sort of semi-wild backyard! I really like it. I see your kalenchoe in that pic! Nice!!! I am a big succulent lover!

What a joy to see. In Oklahoma we don't have much green yet, but I'll put a few photos up later on today.

Well, this Pennsylvania gardener has seen agaves in pots and bougainvilleas in greenhouses, but the rest are all new to me! Thanks for the tropical treat, Nicole.

Thank you for the color and beauty...if there was a fragrance attached I would be in heaven. I'm in MN and I long to be on a warm sandy beach...breathing in the salt air. The only salt and sand I see are on the the roads and on my car. I'm looking forward to spring and digging into my gardens. On the first day of spring I will start checking daily for a sign of a tulip or daffodil.

Hi Nicole, great to see all your flowers, the pictures are great. Today I was at my local nursery and they had the Mexican Honeysuckle for sale and I almost got one. After seen your picture I think I will.

All of your photos - the colors! - are just unbelievably gorgeous, but that 4th photo with the sea's horizon in the background...now THAT reminded me so much of my island home. I can't wait to get back.

Quite a colorful display for us northerners. Thanks for sharing. The century plant makes a nice architectural statement!

Nicole, you must be delirious with all those brightly colored blooms surrounding you! That's what I love most about visiting places like Florida. I've not been to the Caribbean, but hopefully someday!

Hi Nicole! I just found your blog, but I love it so much I added it to our favorites on Blotanical. To be quite honest, I'm going to live vicariously through you. haahaa!

My husband and I honeymooned on St. John in the USVI. Ever since then, I take any chance I can get to see the Caribbean again.

Thanks for sharing the beauty. -Jen :)

The Mexican Honeysuckle is such a wonderful colour - and wow, you would laugh if you saw my efforts to keep my Bougainvillea alive. Your flowers show such a vibrancy and boldness that is a welcome relief from snow!

All those lovely tropicals are exciting. Your photos make me want to move. What are your summers like? Does it get much hotter? Do you get plenty of rain?

Our March in Austin is nice but our summers are brutal

Nicole: Such great blooms and colors. Bougainvillea is one of my favorites to see and they grow so well from my area south. Love the blue sky too... you must think you are in heaven in your tropical oasis. Loved the sailing photos in an earlier post. They looked just like I imagine the Carribean to be.

Hot colors indeed! Those white blossoms at the end are such a contrast to all the saturated pinks & oranges.

Beautiful saturated colors. More please.

What happens to the twenty-five foot tall agave after bloom? That's tree height, Nicole!

A friend just gave me starts of Mexican honeysuckle - hope mine looks as lovely as yours some day.
