Pumpkin and fruits

On a roadside stand a few miles outside Vientiane, Laos:

This pumpkin was extremely delicious, with a rich, sweet nutty taste, nothing like the watery stuff you get in the US

Front to back: Finger bananas, dragon fruit, caimite, sweet tamarinds

Chrysophyllum cainito L
Native to the West Indies ( though no longer commonly found) the caimite or star apple has a glossy leathery skin that is either green or purple ( both kinds shown above). Inside is a sweet white milky flesh with a texture and taste similar to a ripe persimmon.

I bought one and saved the seeds. Will see how it goes

Bloom's Day March

The new garden is now 4 1/2 months old so the blooms are here and there. Plus I have been so busy with work and work travel I haven't had time to do the watering and feeding to coax the spectacular bunches of blooms.

I love bougainvillea and planted as many colors as I could:

I like how this one shows the emerging blooms

This gold one is to grow up on the trellis at the kitchen stoop

love these purslane in the front planter, busy with bees
